History of the Hastings May Day Bike Run
Dating back to the late-1970s, the May Day Run began as a small gathering of local bikers. It has since grown into a massive spectacle, with thousands of participants revving their engines in anticipation. The scenic route from London to Hastings spans about 60 miles and winds through some of England’s most beautiful countryside.
Hastings Seafront Filled with Motorcycles
When riders reach Hastings, the seafront fills with thousands of motorcycles. The entire promenade becomes an open‑air showcase of bikes, from vintage classics to modern machines.
Parking and Road Closures During the Event
Due to the popularity of the event, parking in Hastings can be extremely busy, particularly along the seafront and in the Old Town. Pelham Place car park is typically reserved for motorbike parking during the event, along with dedicated areas at the Stade, so visitors arriving by car should plan ahead and expect road closures and delays.
