The Battle of Hastings Re-enactment returns to Battle Abbey on 10–11 October 2026 to mark the 960th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. Held on the original 1066 battlefield in Battle, East Sussex, it is one of England’s largest historical events. Thousands of visitors travel from across the UK each year to experience the Norman Conquest where it happened.
Battle Re-enactment at Battle Abbey
More than 500 Norman and Saxon re-enactors recreate the famous battle between King Harold II and William the Conqueror. Authentic weapons, armour and battle formations bring the events of 1066 to life. The dramatic combat unfolds on the original battlefield, creating an unforgettable spectacle.
Living History and Medieval Experiences
Beyond the battlefield, visitors can explore Norman and Saxon encampments and meet experienced historical re-enactors. Living history displays reveal how people lived, worked and fought during the 11th century. Falconry displays, traditional crafts and a medieval market run throughout the weekend. Families can also enjoy archery, sword school and interactive activities.
