July 18 @ 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

About
The Winchelsea Secret Gardens is an annual National Garden Scheme event that opens 13 private gardens not usually open to the public. Set within the historic Cinque Port town of Winchelsea, visitors can explore cottage gardens, roses, wildlife-friendly planting and historic walled gardens.
Held for one day each July, the event raises money for nursing and health charities while showcasing one of East Sussex’s most picturesque historic towns.
Explore the Gardens
Each garden offers something different. Visitors can discover intimate courtyard spaces, colourful cottage planting and beautifully restored historic gardens behind Georgian and medieval homes.
Together, the gardens showcase a wide variety of planting styles, colours and garden design.
Refreshments and Plants
Home-made teas are available at Winchelsea New Hall throughout the day. Proceeds support the National Garden Scheme and local charities.
Visitors can also browse a selection of plants for sale before continuing their visit.
Discover Historic Winchelsea
The event is an ideal opportunity to explore Winchelsea beyond the gardens. Wander its medieval streets, discover ancient gates, historic buildings and famous wine cellars, then enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding countryside.
Plan Your Visit
The Winchelsea Secret Gardens takes place on Saturday 18 July 2026. A single admission ticket includes entry to all 13 gardens. Visitors can book in advance or buy tickets on the day.
