October 17 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Hastings Borough Bonfire Society’s Torchlit Procession and Fireworks – Saturday 17th October 2026.
Bonfire societies from all over Sussex march through the streets of Hastings in a procession of drums, flares and flaming torchlights. Spectators will see a huge bonfire on the beach, watch the effigy burn and enjoy a spectacular firework display. The event commemorates the Battle of Hastings and celebrates the traditional Gunpowder Plot of 1605.
The procession starts from the America Ground at the sea end of Robertson Street. It follows a route along the seafront to Marine Parade, passes up All Saints Street, goes down the High Street and then returns along the seafront to the bonfire site opposite Pelham Crescent.
This is a free, no-ticket event made possible by the hard work and determination of HBBS volunteers. Hastings Bonfire relies on volunteers and their fundraising efforts throughout the year. Don’t forget to bring your pennies for the collection buckets to help ensure the event continues in the future.
This is an extremely popular event so please BOOK YOUR ACCOMMODATION EARLY to avoid disappointment.
