Hastings Week is an annual celebration held in the historic town of Hastings. This vibrant event pays homage to our town’s rich history, dating back to the year 1066 when the famous Battle of Hastings took place. Events take place all week, kicking off with a massive bonfire & firework display on Saturday 12th.
The weekend of the 12 – 13th October sees the return of the Classic Car Show roaring into the Stade Open Space. By Friday, the vintage and classic motorcycle show rolls into town, complete with a fish and chip run! Prefer a more relaxed experience? Take part in one of the many guided heritage and history walks happening throughout the week, including a tour of the the Stade Fishing Quarter.
The focal point of Hastings Week is the re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings, which took place on October 14, 1066. This pivotal event marked the Norman conquest of England and forever altered the course of British history. The re-enactment draws history enthusiasts, actors, and curious onlookers who gather to witness this dramatic portrayal of the past. The participants, adorned in authentic period attire, bring the battlefield to life, providing a vivid glimpse into the challenges and strategies faced by both the Norman and Saxon forces.
